CEED 2027: Counselling and Admission Process
Full pageThe Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is an entrance examination used by participating institutes to assess candidates for admission to Master of Design (M.Des.) and selected Ph.D. programmes in design. After the declaration of CEED 2027 results, candidates must apply to their preferred institutes and follow the admission procedures announced by each institution.
There is no single centralised counselling process for all CEED participating institutes. IIT Bombay conducts CEED, but the individual institutes manage their own admission applications, shortlisting and selection. Qualifying in CEED alone does not guarantee a seat.
Steps in the CEED 2027 Admission Process
1. Check the CEED 2027 Result and Scorecard
Candidates should check their result through the official CEED website and download their scorecard when it becomes available. The result is scheduled for March 3, 2027, and scorecards are scheduled to be available for download from March 10, 2027.
The CEED 2027 scorecard is valid for one year from the result declaration date. Candidates should review the score and ensure they meet the requirements of their preferred programmes.
2. Select Participating Institutes and Programmes
Candidates should identify the institutes and design programmes that match their interests, academic qualifications and career goals. CEED scores may be accepted for relevant M.Des. and Ph.D. programmes, but the available programmes and eligibility conditions vary by institute.
Check each institute’s official admission notice for programme-specific requirements, application deadlines, selection stages, fees and available seats.
3. Submit Separate Institute Applications
Candidates must apply directly to each institute they wish to join. Appearing for CEED or qualifying in the examination does not automatically register a candidate for admission.
Complete the institute-specific application form, upload the required documents, pay the applicable application fee and submit the form before the institute’s deadline. Candidates should not assume that one application covers every participating institute.
4. Meet the Institute’s Selection Requirements
Shortlisting criteria differ across institutes and programmes. Depending on the programme, candidates may be assessed through their CEED score, portfolio, written or design aptitude test, personal interview, or other institute-specific selection stages.
For example, certain M.Des. programmes may require shortlisted applicants to present their portfolio and attend an interview. Candidates should follow the exact instructions in the latest admission brochure for their chosen programme.
5. Check Shortlists and Admission Results
After the required screening and selection stages, institutes publish or communicate their shortlists and final admission decisions through their official admission portals or other specified channels.
Candidates should regularly check their application status and registered email address. Meeting the CEED qualifying criteria does not necessarily mean a candidate will be shortlisted by every institute.
6. Complete Document Verification and Confirm Admission
Candidates who receive an admission offer must follow the institute’s instructions to confirm their seat. This may involve submitting original or verified documents, providing category or eligibility certificates where applicable, paying the admission fee and completing registration formalities.
Missing a deadline or failing to satisfy an institute’s requirements may affect admission, so candidates should carefully read their offer and follow all specified instructions.
Important Points About CEED 2027 Admission

Institute-specific criteria: Eligibility, cut-offs, tests, interviews and portfolio requirements may vary.
Check official notifications: Admission schedules and procedures are announced separately by the institutes.
Scorecard validity: The CEED 2027 scorecard is valid for one year from the declaration of results.
