About CEED
CEED (Postgraduate): Focuses on advanced design thinking, specialized domain understanding, and deeper problem-solving for graduates aiming for Master of Design (M.Des) or Ph.D. tracks
CEED 2027
The Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027 is a national-level design entrance examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay). It is used to assess candidates seeking admission to Master of Design (M.Des.) and selected Ph.D. programmes in design at participating institutes.
CEED evaluates visual perception, drawing ability, logical reasoning, creativity, communication and problem-solving skills. The examination consists of two parts: Part A, a computer-based test, and Part B, which assesses design, drawing and writing skills.
Candidates interested in postgraduate design education should understand the examination pattern, registration deadlines, eligibility requirements and programme-specific admission procedures before applying.

What Is CEED?
CEED is designed to assess the aptitude required for advanced study in design. It is conducted by IIT Bombay under the guidance of the UCEED-CEED Implementation Committee.
The examination evaluates candidates' ability to understand visual information, analyse problems, communicate ideas and develop creative solutions. It is primarily relevant to graduates and eligible final-year students interested in pursuing postgraduate design education.
CEED is different from UCEED, which is used for undergraduate Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) admissions. CEED is principally used for M.Des. and selected Ph.D. admissions at participating institutions.
Qualifying CEED does not guarantee admission. Candidates must apply separately to their preferred institutes and may need to complete additional tests, interviews or other selection requirements.

CEED 2027 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must satisfy the eligibility requirements specified in the CEED 2027 information brochure.
Applicants must have completed a graduate degree, diploma or postgraduate degree programme with a minimum duration of three years after Class 12. Candidates appearing for the final examination of such a programme by July 2027 can also apply.
Candidates who have passed the five-year Government Diploma in Art (G.D. Art) after Class 10 by July 2027 are also eligible under the published rules.
There is no age limit for appearing in CEED, and candidates may attempt the examination any number of times.
However, eligibility for the examination and eligibility for admission are different. Each participating institute sets its own admission criteria, which may include qualification requirements, relevant academic backgrounds, additional tests and interviews.
Candidates should check their preferred programme's admission requirements before registering.
CEED 2027 Exam Pattern and Syllabus
CEED 2027 comprises two compulsory parts, Part A and Part B, with a total examination duration of three hours.
Part A is a computer-based test with objective questions in Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) and Multiple Select Question (MSQ) formats. It evaluates visual and spatial ability, environmental and social awareness, analytical and logical reasoning, language, observation, design sensitivity, art and design knowledge, and design methods and practices.
Part B contains five questions designed to assess design, drawing and writing skills. These questions are displayed on the computer screen, but candidates must write or draw their responses in the answer booklet provided at the examination centre.
The final CEED score is calculated using the following formula:
Final score = 0.25 × Part A marks + 0.75 × Part B marks
Part A is used to shortlist candidates for Part B evaluation. Candidates should consult the official examination brochure for the question structure, marking scheme and evaluation rules.
CEED 2027 Participating Institutes
CEED scores can be used to apply for M.Des. and selected Ph.D. programmes at participating institutes. The programme options vary by institution.

This is the set of institutes listed in the official CEED 2027 brochure for its programme information. Candidates must confirm whether the exact programme they want accepts CEED scores for the relevant admission year.
The CEED website also lists separate result-sharing institutes for previous examination cycles. Candidates should not assume that every institute on an older result-sharing list participates in CEED 2027 or accepts its score for all programmes.
Courses Available Through CEED
CEED is primarily used for postgraduate design and research admissions. Depending on the institution, eligible programmes may include:
Master of Design (M.Des.).
M.Des. by Research.
Ph.D. in Design.
Ph.D. in Product Design or related research areas.
The available specialisations differ across institutes. They can include industrial design, communication design, interaction design, mobility and vehicle design, visual design, integrated design and technology, XR design and product design.
Candidates should verify the programme name, eligibility requirements and selection process directly with the institution. CEED is not a common admission portal for all postgraduate design courses, and each institute may require a separate application.
CEED 2027 Registration and Admission Process
Candidates must register online through the official CEED website and satisfy the examination eligibility criteria. After registration, they should download their admit cards, appear for the examination, check the Part A answer key and review their results when announced.
Qualifying candidates must then apply separately to the institutions where they wish to pursue M.Des. or Ph.D. studies.
Depending on the programme, the selection process may include additional tests, interviews, portfolio evaluation, academic assessment or other requirements. Candidates should follow the admission announcements published by each institution rather than assuming that a CEED qualification guarantees admission.
The CEED scorecard is valid for one year from the result declaration date.
CEED 2027 Result and Scorecard
The CEED 2027 result is scheduled to be declared on 3 March 2027. Scorecard downloads are scheduled to begin on 10 March 2027 and remain available until 31 July 2027.
Candidates should access the scorecard through the official website and save a copy for their admission applications.
The CEED scorecard cannot be used as proof of date of birth, category or disability status. Candidates must provide the appropriate documents when applying to institutions and when requested during admission verification.
CEED 2027 Preparation Tips
Candidates should develop a balanced preparation plan covering both Part A and Part B.
For Part A, practise visualisation, spatial reasoning, observation, logical reasoning, art and design awareness, language and practical scientific knowledge.
For Part B, improve sketching, composition, proportion, perspective, visual communication, creativity and problem identification. Practise explaining design concepts through drawings and written responses.
Previous-year question papers are available on the official CEED website and can help candidates understand the question formats and examination expectations.
