About MHT CET 2027

MHT CET is the Maharashtra state entrance test for B.E./B.Tech, B.Pharm, Pharm.D and B.Planning admissions through CAP. Check 2027 status, eligibility, PCM/PCB pattern, syllabus, fees, percentile normalisation, cutoffs and counselling.

MHT CET 2027 Overview

The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) is the gateway to first-year B.E./B.Tech, B.Pharm, Pharm.D and B.Planning seats in Maharashtra — one of India’s largest engineering and pharmacy education hubs, with colleges such as VJTI Mumbai, COEP Technological University Pune, SPIT, PICT and Walchand College of Engineering admitting students through it. The test is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, Mumbai, which is the Competent Authority for admissions under the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015.

In 2026, the first attempt alone saw over 7.6 lakh registrations across the PCM (4,79,332) and PCB (2,84,063) groups, making MHT CET one of the biggest state-level entrance exams in the country. Scores are converted into percentiles, and those percentiles decide your rank in the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) that the CET Cell runs after the results.

Status (as of 16 October 2026): The State CET Cell has not yet released the MHT CET 2027 notification, information brochure or exam dates. Why MHT CET Matters

For most students who finished Class 12 in Maharashtra, MHT CET is the main route into state government, aided and private unaided engineering and pharmacy colleges. Two things make it different from national exams like JEE Main:

  • It follows the Maharashtra State Board syllabus. About 80% of questions come from Std XII and 20% from Std XI, so a strong board preparation directly helps your CET score.

  • Admissions are percentile-based and state-run. Your merit position in CAP comes from your MHT CET total percentile (JEE Main is preferred for All India seats), and seats are allotted round by round on the FE CAP portal.

  • Seat reservation and Home University rules matter. Seats are split by Home University, Other Than Home University, State Level and All India quotas, along with category, women, defence, PwD, EWS and TFWS reservations.

Who Should Take MHT CET?

  • Students in Class 12 (or who have passed it) who want a B.E./B.Tech seat in Maharashtra should take the PCM group.

  • Students aiming for B.Pharm or Pharm.D can use either the PCM or PCB score, as per the admission rules.

  • Students interested in B.Planning or integrated M.E./M.Tech and M.Planning programmes listed in the brochure.

  • Candidates from outside Maharashtra can also appear, but for All India seats the CAP rules give preference to JEE Main scores.

Key Takeaways

  • MHT CET is conducted by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra, for engineering, pharmacy and planning admissions.

  • The 2027 notification has not been released yet; the 2026 rules are the best available reference.

  • The exam is a 180-minute CBT with no negative marking; results are given as normalised percentiles.

  • Admission happens through the CET Cell’s Centralised Admission Process (CAP).

Pro Tip: Do not wait for the 2027 notice to start preparing. The syllabus is based on the Maharashtra State Board, so your Class 12 preparation and MHT CET preparation can run together from day one.
