Exam Pattern and Syllabus
IPU CET 2027 Exam Pattern
The IPU CET 2027 examination pattern is designed to evaluate candidates' subject knowledge, analytical reasoning, aptitude and programme-specific abilities. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) conducts separate Common Entrance Tests for different undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with each examination following a syllabus and subject-wise weightage relevant to the selected course.
The examination generally consists of objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Candidates must select the correct answer from the available options. The number of questions, duration, maximum marks and marking scheme are prescribed under the University's common examination guidelines, subject to programme-specific provisions.
For the 2027–28 academic session, the final examination pattern will be confirmed in the upcoming admission brochure. The 2026–27 admission brochure provides the latest published examination structure for reference.

IPU CET Marking Scheme
GGSIPU follows a uniform marking structure for its general CET examinations, except where a specific programme has separate assessment provisions.
Correct Answer: Four marks are awarded for every correct response.
Incorrect Answer: One mark is deducted for every incorrect response.
Unattempted Question: No marks are awarded or deducted.
Multiple Responses: Marking more than one answer for a question is treated as an incorrect response and attracts negative marking.
Candidates should therefore focus on accuracy and avoid marking multiple options for the same question.
Example of IPU CET Score Calculation
Suppose a candidate attempts 80 questions, out of which 65 are correct and 15 are incorrect. The remaining 20 questions are unattempted.

Examination Pattern for Medical and Allied Healthcare Programmes
GGSIPU also prescribes programme-specific examination structures for selected healthcare, paramedical and science programmes.
Some programmes use NEET UG as the first admission priority, while IPU CET may be considered subsequently for available seats. Therefore, candidates must distinguish between the entrance examination pattern and the order of admission priority.
Programme | CET Code | Subjects | Weightage |
|---|---|---|---|
B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing | 115 | Physics | 20% |
Chemistry | 20% | ||

These specialised papers demonstrate why candidates should prepare according to their selected programme code instead of following a single common preparation strategy.
Examination Mode and Answering Instructions
The 2026–27 general examination guidelines specify an offline OMR-based examination. The detailed instructions also contain references to online/offline examination arrangements, making the programme-specific examination notice and admit-card instructions relevant to the actual examination mode.
For OMR-based examinations, candidates should follow these precautions:
Read the question carefully before selecting an answer.
Use the prescribed black or blue ballpoint pen for marking responses.
Completely darken the appropriate answer bubble.
Avoid marking more than one option for a question.
Do not fold, damage or unnecessarily mark the OMR sheet.
Verify the roll number, question booklet code and other required information before submission.
Candidates should also remember that GGSIPU does not provide a retest merely because a candidate was unable to appear on the scheduled examination date.
