Full page

Candidates seeking admission through the Indraprastha University Common Entrance Test (IPU CET) 2027 must fulfil the academic qualifications, minimum marks requirements, subject combinations and age criteria prescribed by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU).

The eligibility requirements differ according to the selected undergraduate or postgraduate programme. Candidates must have completed the required qualifying examination from a recognised board, university or equivalent institution and satisfy the programme-specific conditions before applying.

For the academic session 2027–28, the official eligibility criteria will be confirmed through the GGSIPU Admission Brochure 2027–28. The following information is based on the latest published 2026–27 admission brochure and should be treated as a reference until the new brochure is released.

General Eligibility Requirements

Candidates applying for IPU CET should fulfil the following general requirements, subject to the eligibility conditions of their selected programme.

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for undergraduate programmes must generally have passed Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.

Applicants seeking admission to postgraduate programmes must possess a relevant bachelor's degree or another qualification accepted by the University for the selected course.

Candidates must fulfil the compulsory subject requirements wherever prescribed, such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or English.

Qualifications obtained through recognised boards, universities and equivalent educational systems must satisfy the University's admission regulations.

Minimum Percentage Requirements

The minimum marks requirement depends on the programme. Several undergraduate programmes require 50% aggregate marks in Class 12, while professional and technical programmes may have different subject-wise and aggregate requirements.

For postgraduate programmes, the minimum qualifying marks are generally specified in the respective programme's eligibility conditions. Candidates must check the official brochure for the exact percentage required.

Recognised Qualification

Candidates must possess a qualifying certificate or degree from a recognised educational board, university or institution. Equivalent qualifications must be accepted under the applicable University and regulatory-body guidelines.

Course-Wise Eligibility Criteria

GGSIPU prescribes different academic requirements for individual programmes. Some courses require specific subjects at the 10+2 level, while others require a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

Age Limit for IPU CET

The University prescribes age limits for different programmes. The applicable age is calculated according to the cutoff date specified in the admission brochure.

According to the 2026–27 admission brochure, the age criteria were as follows:

Programme Category

Age Limit (2026–27 Reference)

Undergraduate programmes with Class 12 as the entry qualification, except MBBS/BAMS/BHMS

Maximum 21 years as on 1 August 2026

MBBS, BAMS and BHMS

Minimum 17 years and maximum 25 years by the prescribed admission-year cutoff

Programmes with specific age regulations

As prescribed in the respective programme guidelines

Age Relaxation: The 2026–27 brochure provides a five-year relaxation in the maximum age limit for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying to MBBS, BAMS and BHMS programmes. Other eligible cases of age relaxation are subject to the University's prescribed rules and approval of the competent authority.

The brochure also provides for exceptional age relaxation in certain programmes, subject to the University's approval and supporting documentation.

The above cutoff dates and age limits are for the 2026–27 admission session. The applicable dates for IPU CET 2027 will be confirmed in the new admission brochure.

Eligibility Criteria for Reserved Categories

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University follows the applicable reservation policies and admission regulations for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

  • Depending on the programme and applicable government or regulatory guidelines, relaxation in minimum qualifying marks and other eligibility conditions may be available to eligible candidates.

  • Candidates applying under reserved categories should take note of the following:

  • SC/ST Candidates: Applicable relaxation in minimum qualifying marks and reservation benefits as prescribed by the University.

  • OBC Candidates: Reservation and eligibility benefits according to the applicable category rules and the University's notified policy.

  • EWS Candidates: Reservation benefits subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions and valid supporting documentation.

  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): Applicable reservation and programme-specific eligibility provisions under the relevant regulations.

  • Defence Category: Admission benefits and reservation provisions as prescribed in the University's admission brochure.

Candidates claiming category-based benefits must submit valid supporting certificates issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.

Important: Reserved-category relaxation is not identical for every course. Candidates must refer to the programme-specific eligibility conditions and the University's reservation policy for the applicable academic session.

Eligibility for Candidates Awaiting Results

Candidates who are appearing in their final qualifying examination or whose results have not yet been declared may be allowed to apply for IPU CET, subject to the conditions specified in the admission brochure.

Such candidates may be considered for provisional admission where permitted by the University. However, they must produce the final qualifying examination result within the prescribed deadline to establish that they fulfil the required eligibility conditions.

Candidates who fail to submit the required documents or do not achieve the prescribed minimum qualifying marks may have their provisional admission cancelled.

For the 2027 admission session, result-awaited candidates should carefully follow the instructions and deadlines notified in the official admission brochure.

Important Points Candidates Should Remember

1. Check Programme Codes: Every course has a specific programme code and its own eligibility requirements. Candidates should verify these details before selecting their course.

2. Verify Entrance Examination Requirements: Admission to every GGSIPU programme is not necessarily through IPU CET. Some programmes use national-level examinations or other admission routes.

3. No Rounding-Off of Marks: In the 2026–27 admission brochure, GGSIPU clearly stated that marks would not be rounded off while determining minimum eligibility. For example, 49.9% would not be treated as 50%.

4. Check Subject Combinations: Candidates must ensure that they have studied the compulsory subjects required for their chosen programme.

5. Keep Documents Ready: Academic marksheets, certificates, category documents (where applicable) and other required records should be available during the admission and counselling process.
