The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2027 counselling and admission process is conducted by the UCEED Office at IIT Bombay for admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programmes at seven participating institutes.

Candidates who qualify UCEED 2027 must complete a separate B.Des. admission application through the common application portal. They must select their preferred institutes in order of preference, submit the required documents and participate in the joint seat-allocation process.

Seat allocation is based on the candidate's All India Rank (AIR), applicable category, institute preferences and seat availability. Qualifying UCEED alone does not guarantee admission.

How to Apply for UCEED 2027 B.Des. Admission

Step 1: Check Your UCEED Result and Eligibility

Candidates must qualify UCEED 2027 and obtain a rank to apply through the common B.Des. admission process.

They must also satisfy the admission eligibility conditions, including the age limit and qualifying examination requirements. Subject requirements vary by institute, so candidates should review their eligibility before filling in preferences.

Step 2: Visit the Official B.Des. Application Portal

Open the official UCEED 2027 website and access the B.Des. application link when the portal opens on 15 March 2027.

Official website: https://www.uceed.iitb.ac.in/2027/

The common application is processed by the UCEED Office at IIT Bombay. Candidates do not need to submit separate applications through the UCEED joint seat-allocation process for each of the seven participating institutes.

Step 3: Complete the Common Application Form

Enter the requested personal information, qualifying examination details and category information. Candidates must ensure that the details match their official documents.

Incorrect or incomplete information may lead to rejection of the application or cancellation of admission following document verification.

Step 4: Fill in Institute Preferences

Select the participating institutes in the order in which you would prefer to receive admission offers.

Candidates should arrange their preferences carefully, considering the curriculum, location, subject eligibility and career interests associated with each institute.

The application portal allows candidates to edit their institute preferences and resubmit the form until the application deadline. After the application closes, the preferences and submitted information become final, and changes are not permitted.

Step 5: Upload the Required Documents

Candidates must upload the prescribed documents in the specified formats. These include digital copies of the photograph, signature, UCEED scorecard and qualifying examination marksheet.

Depending on the candidate's circumstances, the application may also require an EWS, OBC-NCL, SC/ST or PwD certificate and an OCI/PIO card.

Candidates should review the official information brochure before submitting the application.

Step 6: Submit the Application

Review all details and ensure that the institute preferences and documents are correct before submitting the application.

Candidates should retain a copy of the completed form and confirmation details for future reference.

UCEED 2027 Seat Allotment Process

The UCEED Office conducts five rounds of joint seat allocation under the published schedule. Candidates receive provisional seat offers based on their AIR, applicable category, institute preferences and seat availability.

Selected candidates receive provisional allotment information through their registered email address. They must then follow the instructions for accepting the offer and paying the seat acceptance fee.

How Institute Preferences Affect Seat Allotment

The joint seat-allocation system considers the order of institute preferences submitted by candidates. Candidates should therefore rank the institutes in their genuine order of preference rather than selecting them based only on general rankings.

If a candidate receives an offer, the options available depend on the allocated preference and the prescribed rules for that round.

Freeze: The candidate accepts the allotted institute and does not wish to be considered for a higher preference in subsequent rounds.

Float: A candidate allotted their second or lower preference accepts the current offer while remaining eligible for an upgrade to a higher-preference institute in a subsequent round, subject to the rules.

Decline: The candidate rejects the allotted offer. Under the published rules, declining an offer can cancel the current allocation and make the candidate ineligible for subsequent rounds.

Candidates offered their first preference can accept and freeze the offer or decline it; the float option is available to eligible candidates offered a lower preference.

Candidates should carefully read the current round's instructions before choosing an option. A higher-preference upgrade under float can replace the previously accepted seat, and the earlier allocation is forfeited.

These dates are tentative and subject to official revision. Candidates should check their allotment letter for the amount payable and exact deadline.

UCEED 2027 Seat Acceptance Fee

Candidates receiving a provisional seat offer must pay the prescribed seat acceptance fee through the official payment system.

Candidate Category

Total Seat Acceptance Payment

OPEN / EWS / OBC-NCL

₹65,000

SC / ST / PwD

₹20,000

The total includes a ₹5,000 processing fee, which is non-refundable and non-transferable. The remaining seat acceptance amount is ₹60,000 for OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

For candidates who accept and ultimately join an institute, the seat acceptance fee is adjusted against the admitting institute's fees according to the published rules.

Candidates should make payment only through the official seat-allocation system and should not respond to unofficial requests for allotment or admission payments.

UCEED Seat Withdrawal and Refund Rules

Candidates who have paid the seat acceptance fee may withdraw their seat only within the official withdrawal windows.

The published schedule provides withdrawal windows after Rounds 1, 2, 3 and 4. For withdrawals made within the applicable refund period, the refund is ₹60,000 for OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL candidates and ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates, after deduction of ₹5,000 in seat-cancellation and processing charges.

The final scheduled withdrawal deadline is 7 July 2027 at 6:00 PM. No withdrawal or decline option is available after the final round of seat allocation under the published rules.

Candidates should read the withdrawal and refund conditions carefully before accepting or declining a seat.

Documents Required for UCEED Admission

Candidates should prepare the following digital documents, as applicable:

  • Photograph and signature.

  • UCEED 2027 scorecard.

  • Class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination marksheet.

  • Valid EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST certificate, where applicable.

  • PwD certificate, where applicable.

  • OCI/PIO card, where applicable.

The admitting institute will verify the documents during the admission process. Candidates must provide correct and complete information and submit documents in the prescribed formats.

Admission offers remain provisional until the required fees have been paid, documents have been verified and the candidate has completed the admitting institute's formalities.

What Happens After UCEED Seat Allotment?

After accepting a seat and paying the prescribed fee, candidates should follow the selected institute's instructions for reporting, document verification and payment of the remaining admission fees.

Candidates must complete all admission formalities by the stipulated deadlines. Institutes may cancel admission if submitted information is found to be incorrect or incomplete.

Once the joint seat-allocation process closes, further changes such as switching institutes are not permitted through the UCEED Office. Candidates should therefore make their choices and decisions carefully.
